The commercial rule
Sponsored content policy
If money ever touches a page on this site, the page says so at the top in plain words. Nothing else about sponsorship is complicated.
Grand Prix Tournaments publishes guides to classic card games, and the games do not take sponsors. The desk may accept clearly labeled sponsorship from time to time, for equipment, venues or events, under three rules that do not bend. First, the label sits at the top of the page in plain language, never in a footnote. Second, sponsorship buys placement, never opinion: no sponsored page rewrites a rule, a scoring value or a strategy verdict, because the whole value of the site is that the numbers do not move. Third, there is no silent placement: a page is either independent or labeled, and the editorial policy governs everything unlabeled.
What sponsorship can never buy
The standard games are not for sale: the meld values of pinochle, the book count of Bid Whist and the bag penalty of spades are facts, and facts are priced out of this market. Corrections are not for sale, and a sponsor with an error on a page waits in the same queue as any reader. Histories are not for sale, because the printed record is the printed record. A sponsor who wants any of those things is not a sponsor; they are a reader with a budget.
Offers and questions about the policy go through the contact page, and the unlabeled pages all follow the editorial policy. Everything else on the site, rules, strategy, formats, scoring and history, is written the same way with or without money in the room: from the table, for the table.
